Management strategies for sustainable agropastoralism
Enhancing the resilience of small traditional farms in the Mediterranean Area
Project Platform
The SUREPASTOR platform aims to showcase social feeds, pilot farms actions, and innovative solutions developed and tested within the Project. The platform presents tools, practices, and strategies for sustainable pasture management, described from both a scientific perspective and a socio-economic viewpoint, using indicators that illustrate their effectiveness, replicability, ease of adoption, and environmental and social impacts.
The main objective of the platform is to valorise the results achieved by the SUREPASTOR Project, supporting knowledge transfer and encouraging stakeholders to adopt and scale sustainable pastoral practices that enhance ecosystem services, resilience to climate change, and rural livelihoods.
The SUREPASTOR platform serves not only as a research dissemination and communication tool, but also as a bridge connecting researchers, farmers, pastoralists, policymakers, and local communities, fostering collaboration to address land degradation, biodiversity loss, and the long-term sustainability of pastoral systems.

SUREPASTOR identifies, tests, and validates innovative digital and analytical technologies to support sustainable and resilient pasture-based systems. These include GPS collars and Virtual Fencing systems to enable adaptive grazing management, GIS-based tools for spatial analysis and decision support, pasture data collection tools for real-time monitoring, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) methodologies to evaluate environmental and social impacts.
Together, these technologies contribute to improving resource efficiency, reducing land degradation, and strengthening the sustainability and socio-economic viability of pastoral systems.
