A Dual Milestone Day for SUREPASTOR in Torrita di Siena

April 24 marked a productive and multidimensional day for the SUREPASTOR project in Torrita di Siena, Tuscany. The field team continued systematic pasture data collection at the Coveri and Il Pecorino farms, gathering key agronomic indicators—including NDVI, LAI, grass height, species composition, and biomass—using GPS and spectrometry tools. These data contribute to a deeper understanding of pasture dynamics and will be further supported by upcoming forage quality analyses.

Simultaneously, a co-creation session unfolded at the Coveri farm, where DAGRI researchers met with farm owners Carla and Stefano Coveri. Together, they co-designed a testing protocol for innovative livestock management technologies. This collaborative effort exemplifies SUREPASTOR’s commitment to integrating scientific research with practical farming needs, ensuring that innovation is grounded in real-world contexts.

This dual-focus day highlighted both the rigorous scientific underpinnings and the participatory spirit of the project—bringing together data-driven insights and stakeholder-driven innovation in a single, impactful field visit.
